We are pleased to announce that “Tomoyuki Tanaka’s Disassembled Shinsho Exhibition [Imaginary Architecture]” will be held as follows. (Re-exhibition of the special exhibition held at Tsutaya Bookstore Kumamoto Sannenzaka from September 6th to September 19th, 2023)
In this special exhibition, we will display a perspective painting, commonly known as “Tanaper,” created by Professor Tomoyuki Tanaka of our university’s Graduate School of Advanced Science Research, who is an architect and specializes in architectural and urban design.
”Tanaper” sees through buildings and their exterior walls to reveal the complex structure of urban spaces and the diverse spaces within buildings on paper with a single blue pen, and has received high praise both domestically and internationally.
At the venue, perspective views of imaginary buildings will be exhibited, including the work that was exhibited in Tokyo and Fukuoka last year that made sneakers look like towers. The original drawing will be enlarged and exhibited, so you can enjoy the precise perspective details. Also on display will be the TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance sneakers that were the model for the original painting.
This time, the exhibit will be held at the University’s Five High School Memorial Hall, which is an important cultural property, so we hope you will enjoy the fusion of historical buildings and modern urban design.
