The Organization for Kumamoto University Campus Museum will hold “Kumamoto University Special Exhibition Ammonite”.
In addition to valuable specimens obtained from various parts of Japan, such as Kyushu and Hokkaido, the exhibition will introduce research results using specimens collected overseas (joint research between Kumamoto University, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the Vietnam Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources), and a total of about 100 ammonite fossils, including specimens found during field training, will be exhibited. Giant ammonites and heteromorph ammonites are on display.
The venue for this exhibition, The Chemical Laboratory of the Fifth High School, is a building designated as an Important Cultural Property and is usually not open to the public. Please take this opportunity to visit.
On Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st, we are planning to hold a lecture by Professor Emeritus Haruyoshi Maeda of the Kyushu University Museum. There is a limit to the number of participants for the lectures, so please apply early.
