We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a special exhibition at the Kumamoto University Campus Museum titled “Dinosaur Fossil Collaboration Exhibition – Research and excavation by Kumamoto University and the launch of the museum.”
This is a collaborative exhibition with three natural history museums connected to Kumamoto University.
The Mifune Dinosaur Museum has the teeth of a tyrannosaurus, the limb bones of a theropod, and the Koshiki Museum has the teeth of a theropod and sauropod dinosaur, and the teeth of a ceratopsian (ceratopsidae), the first reported in Japan, the teeth of a theropod dinosaur discovered in the late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian period) strata of Kamikoshiki Island, and the femur of one of Japan’s largest ornithopod dinosaurs, which is attracting attention as the ”last dinosaur in the Japanese archipelago.” . Goshoura Cretaceous Museum exhibits fossils of Coryphodonts, which are mammals from the Paleogene period.
The venue for this event, the Chemical Experiment Station, is a building designated as an important cultural property and is not normally open to the public. Please take this opportunity to visit us.
On December 2nd and 3rd, we are also planning a lecture by Professor Makoto Manabe, Deputy Director of the National Museum of Nature and Science. Space is limited for the lecture, so please register early.
